I agree, David. I was thinking the same thing last night. It’s definitely something that is changing in the market and we all need to know how we can evolve our skills to continue making a living. That will definitely be on the list for the next meeting topic.

Someone at the Vulcan Park meeting mentioned: “How are we going to make money in this changing market?” Sounds like a great topic to me.

I’m so glad you are starting this group! Your list of suggested topics is great! It would be useful for me to learn more about using javascript libraries to add interactivity to my site designs. Another helpful topic for me would be a refresher course in utilizing Firebug to check my CSS layouts.

I have one more topic in mind: best practices to integrate a whole business with their website –

Example: a small engineering firm want a new website and wants their website to integrate with a new ERP system and/or CRM together with an accounting and billing software.

Ditto on the topics already listed. While it is listed as a “lunch”, my hope would be that it would be in a format where instruction could happen, not just people chatting around a table. At RubyHam, we have adopted (for our instructional sessions) a lightning talk format, allowing people roughly 5-15 minutes to say what they want to say and be done.

It may be good to use a format like this with this group as well. Just a suggestion.
