Meeting 2 Poll

Written by: Brit

I’m overwhelmed with the attendance from the first meeting and want to thank each one of you for showing your interest and support. Hopefully you took something away that will help you.

It’s time to talk about the next meeting. Please answer each of the poll questions below so we can a feel for the next meeting. Please vote ASAP as the polls close tomorrow (8/7/2009) at 5PM.

In order for this group to maintain relationships and interaction, I suggest meeting more frequently than once a month, but I know how tight everyone’s schedule is. Based on your response,  I will send out another poll for the date.

Meeting Frequency

  • Every Two Weeks (53%, 10 Votes)
  • Once a Month (47%, 9 Votes)

Chris Elliot and I had a good conversation today about this group and what we might could do to bring in some more interaction. We talked about creating a fictional company with a need for a new website. Each meeting we can talk about a specific part of the site (ex. layout, colors, navigation, etc.) and explore how it needs to be applied to the client’s site. To add some spice to it, I would like to see one person play the role of the client and bark out some of the weird things we’ve all heard clients say.

Agenda Topic: Mock Website Build

  • Love It (68%, 13 Votes)
  • So So (32%, 6 Votes)
  • What a Stupid Idea (0%, 0 Votes)

Total Voters: 19

Hopefully everyone enjoyed having the different segments of the meeting and not just one large presentation. If not, let me know.

Agenda

  • Keep it the Way It Is (83%, 15 Votes)
  • Make the Presentation Longer (11%, 2 Votes)
  • Break it Up More (6%, 1 Votes)

  1. #1 by Jeremy Flint on August 6th, 2009

I enjoyed the meeting, but would like to see more opportunities for open discussion using the presentation as a jumping off point for the discussion.

Future topics – browser testing best practices, email newsletter design tips and testing, tools for development and bug squashing, advanced CSS techniques, etc.

  2. #2 by Toni Wall on August 6th, 2009

Although I wasn’t able to make the first meeting, I agree with Jeremy about the future topic ideas. I look forward to being part of the group.

  3. #3 by LKirkpatrick on August 6th, 2009

Yeah. using the presentations and topics as jump off points works.

  4. #4 by LKirkpatrick on August 6th, 2009

Yeah. using the presentations and topics as jump off points works. and inviting people to participate in a showcase in the future would be good too.

  5. #5 by Herve Billiet on August 6th, 2009

I enjoyed it too. Great idea to have a quiz at the end !

Another idea is to let everybody present themselves at the beginning of the session, or put name tags at the front door.
