First Meeting Topic

Written by: Brit

My hope for this group is that it will become more of a cooperative than a presentation forum. So, in sticking with that principle, I want to let you guys pick the topic for each meeting. Some of the suggested topics are listed below. If you don’t see the topic you want to hear about at the first meeting, just post a comment about it and I’ll include it in the voting.

First Meeting Topic

  • The New Web (HTML5/CSS3) (38%, 15 Votes)
  • Basic Design Principles for Web (35%, 14 Votes)
  • Tools for Web Design (13%, 5 Votes)
  • Enhancing UX with Javascript Libraries (13%, 5 Votes)
  • Server Side Lanugage Debate (1%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 40

UPDATE: As you can see from the poll results above, it was very close, but the most popular topic is “HTML5 and CSS3″. That will be the topic for the first meeting. I will post another poll just before the first meeting where we can vote on the topic for the second meeting. “Basic Design Principles for Web” will be included in that list, so all of you gals and guys that voted for that one should be able to pull it off for the second meeting.

It makes sense to do basic design principles for the web first.

On the other hand these topics serve different audiences, and people pick and choose when they are going to come.

This group idea seems interesting. I work for IT in the UAB CIS department and I’d like to try to meet with you guys if at all possible whenever you decide to do this. When is the first planned meeting? Some time in August?
